Sensei Fortunato Restagno is a 6th-degree black belt and chief instructor at Grand River Karate, a not-for-profit volunteer organization celebrating its 26th anniversary in Waterloo Region. 

On Bonn Park with Sara Geidlinger and Marshall Ward, Restagno sheds light on the fluid and effective style of self-defence he teaches in the friendly and supportive environment of Grand River Karate’s dojo.

Restagno, who teaches seminars across Canada and at other martial arts schools and organizations, said karate builds character, confidence, co-operation, and self-discipline, and is a form of physical and mental exercise.
